My
name is June Metts Hurston. I have been married for 45 years to my
husband, John, and we live in Opelika, Alabama. My daughter
(Audra) and son (Charles) both live in Atlanta, Georgia. I also
have two wonderful grandsons, Troy and Walt.
I
am retired from office jobs with the local school district. During
my retirement I have enjoyed gardening in my yard where I can cultivate
my love for flowers. Art has always been an interest of mine.
In 2006, at the age of 59 I took a beginner’s class in oil painting from
artist
Joanne
Williams Walker, who paints beautiful still-life paintings.
Joanne has been a wonderful inspiration to me. I have also
participated in workshops from artists:
Gary Bodner,
Guido Frick,
and
Qiang
Huang. I continue to take lessons from
Ronald Bayens.
Hopefully creating daily paintings will inspire me to paint more often
and continue to improve.
